My entire youth was lived beside a railway line, it was an artery through my life. A steady stream of trains in all of their incarnations. Laying in bed the light from the carriages would somehow traverse in a very particular pattern around the edges of my bedroom exactly where the ceiling and wall converge. It was mathematical in it's accuracy due to the constance of the equation that caused this refraction of light. The sound of the rumbling hulks were very regular, the distant sharp screech of metal on metal as it braked and rounded the corner, the metronome clack like a snare popping over the droning diesel engine was a backing track to life and dreams alike.

When the invitation was offered by Christian and Elle May Watson from 1924us to be transported not only into a railroad adventure, but a railroad adventure set in a time long passed on a heritage railway line, we were of course interested without question. Our Ancient Translations Collection was included in this shoot featuring signet style rings that transcend time or place. We have also been working with 1924us on a collaborative ring project (LBD x 1924us Collaboration) that has been designed to remain in keeping with the 1924us aesthetic. These pieces also naturally align with the 40's era that is visualised in this parallel photo shoot for the Mary Valley Rattler steam train in Gympie, Australia.
